The Red Bench

The Red Bench is a plein‑air watercolour painted during my trip to Venice, capturing a quiet moment at the edge of Campo Santa Margherita. A man reads quietly whilst sitting on a red bench and under the dappled shade of a leafy tree. A young woman passes quickly behind him and pigeons patrol the ground nearby.

The painting weaves together stillness and movement, shade and sudden light, capturing the gentle rhythm of the campo and the small human stories that unfold within it.
