The Sheepfold

Inspired by a January walk in the low fells of Hartsop, Cumbria, this watercolour depicts a moss-covered stone shelter nestled beneath bare trees, where dry stone walls curve down from the snow covered heights and gather in quiet ruins. Empty doorways and broken boundaries hint at past purpose, while sheep graze below under the rising foothills of the fells. A study in stillness and endurance, this piece holds the memory of shelter and the shape of winter solitude.
